Tesla today disclosed its production and delivery figures for the third quarter of 2022.

Tesla reported total deliveries of 343,000 and total vehicle production of 365,000 in the third quarter,

both of which were below analyst expectations.

Tesla produced just under 20,000 units of the more costly

and deluxe Model S and Model X, but only delivered 18,672 of them.

This indicates that Tesla had a large inventory

at the conclusion of the quarter—more than 20,000 brand-new cars.

All of those automobiles, however, have already been sold and are in route.

Tesla blamed supply chain problems exacerbated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in the previous two quarters

as well as the closure of its Shanghai facility amid an uptick in COVID-19 cases in the city

For impeding production and delivery.

On October 19, Tesla will publish its third quarter financial results.
