Hurricane Ian was a tropical storm early on Monday

with significant rainfall and gusts of at least 73 mph.

However, according to analysts,

the storm is swiftly gathering strength

and, if recent history is any indication,

it might get dangerously stronger when it approaches Cuba as early as Monday night.

More storms are rapidly intensifying as the planet's climate heats

often shocking forecasters and leaving communities with little time to prepare

as they transition from relatively

moderate tropical storms to Hurricanes of Category 3 or higher in less than a day.
